To drink more water should be innate for us. It should be easy and just part of our lives. The problem we have today is there are just too many other choices. There are some truly decadent and rich choices for us to just have at our fingertips all day and every day.
And this is a problem. We have lattes on every corner, rows and rows of soda choices and energy drinks, exotic tea drinks like Boba or Thai Milk infusions, and milk and dairy drinks galore. And all we really need is water. So what’s a person to do?
I am going to give you three fun and easy ways to drink more water.
- Drink sparkling water with a hint of essential oils.
- Drink variations of lemon water. I have a great video for you.
- Add fruit, herbs and veggies to your water.
1. Sparkling water can help you adapt to drink more water
Sparkling water is one of my favorite things in the whole world. You see, personal confession– I was a lover of Mountain Dew. It was my constant companion in my teens and early 20s. But that soda is just like all the others. Huge sugar rush (my pancreas must have been really tired), artificial colors and the addition of caffeine actually just dehydrated me and then I just craved more!
So I decided that soda was gone from my life and I started to drink more water. But the problem was, I didn’t like the “taste”. So I started drinking sparkling water. There are a bunch of different flavors out there, and you can start there, but I add my own. As a matter of fact, I have a home carbonation machine and I add fizz and essential oils to my water at home.
So here’s my quick and super easy advice. Go get yourself some fizzy water, preferably in glass bottles. It is easy to find. Grab the unflavored varieties and bring them home. Open the bottle and add three drops of fruit flavored essential oils. You will get a HUGE pop of flavor and plenty of fizz. AND you get some great nutrition to boot.

2. Drinking more water can be easy when you flavor it right!
We all know that lemons are super healthy. It seems like I go through 20 lemons a week. So here are some great ways to really rev up your metabolism and detoxify too…. just add lemons. I have two drinks that I teach in my Perfect Day Lifestyle Program that help my clients drink more water, every single day, and they are super easy to make.
The first one is an apple cider vinegar drink that has lemon, ginger and stevia. It is powerful and refreshing. I originally adapted the drink from Trim Healthy Mama and you can find that recipe here. I add lemons to it for even more effect!
This drink will help detoxify the body and build the immune system and it is sugar free and calorie free. It is really easy to prepare and tastes delicious! Check out this video for complete instructions and you will be wanting to drink more water!
3. Drink More Water-- Infuse it to make it zing!
This one is probably the easiest of all. Many of us already drink infused water– ever asked for water with lemon? It’s that easy. There are so many cool variations you can try! I use an infuser bottle and I also use a handheld strainer to pour my water into my glass. That way you can just cut up great combinations and add it straight to a pitcher and keep it in your refrigerator. Here are some really fun combinations:
- Basil and Strawberry
- Blueberry and Thyme
- Lemon and orange slices
- Orange and Tarragon
- Cucumber and Lime
- Blood Orange
- Melon– watermelon or honeydew
Blueberry Orange Basil Infused Water
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
- 2 or 3 orange slices
- 4 cups structured water or filtered water
- 1 tablespoon braggs apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon stevia
- one sprig basil with leaves and stems attached
