Here is a really simple crock pot recipes for a southern favorite– green beans. I strongly prefer fresh to frozen, so late spring and summertime is optimal for this set it and forget it recipe. Recipe courtesy of the Vegan Slow Cooker cookbook.
Southern Style Green Beans
- 1 lb fresh or frozen green beans, ends trimmed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon granulated onion
- 1/2 teaspoon cajun seasoning
- himalayan salt and pepper to taste
- slow cooker
Add all ingredients to the cooker and mix well. Cook on high for 1.5 to 2 hours. Adjust seasonings as to your taste.
